A Home Built on Quiet Intention
Phoenix Rest came into being because one family wanted something they could not easily find — a place where an elderly parent would feel at home, not merely accommodated.
Back to HomeWhere Phoenix Rest Began
Phoenix Rest was founded in Tai Kok Tsui by a local family who had spent years searching for suitable residential care for their grandmother. After struggling to find anything that felt both trustworthy and genuinely welcoming, they decided to create it themselves.
Opening in 2016, the home began with just six residents and a team of four. Over the years, word spread quietly — through families who had experienced the difference that thoughtful daily care makes in a person's sense of dignity and ease.
Today, Phoenix Rest remains a small and deliberately unhurried home. We have kept it that way on purpose. Every member of our team knows every resident by name, and that familiarity shapes everything about how the home is run.

What Guides How We Work
Dignity in Daily Life
Every decision we make — from how meals are served to how rooms are arranged — starts from the belief that older people deserve to feel respected and comfortable in small things as much as large ones.
Familiar Faces
We keep our team consistent. Residents see the same companions each day. This isn't incidental — it is part of how trust forms, and how someone can genuinely start to feel at home in a place that is not their original one.
An Unhurried Pace
We do not rush residents through their days. Activities, meals, and conversations happen at a tempo that suits older bodies and quieter minds. This is not a compromise — it is a deliberate way of showing care.
Our Team
Each member of the Phoenix Rest team was chosen as much for their temperament as for their experience — patient, warm, and genuinely interested in the people in their care.
Li Man-Yee
Home Director
Man-Yee has worked in elder care across Hong Kong for over eighteen years. She oversees day-to-day operations and ensures the home maintains its quiet, considered character in everything it does.
Chan Kwok-Fai
Senior Companion & Activities Coordinator
Kwok-Fai leads the morning tai chi sessions and afternoon tea workshops that have become a favourite part of the weekly rhythm. He is known for his easy manner and steady patience with residents.
Wong Siu-Lan
Kitchen & Nutrition Lead
Siu-Lan plans and prepares all three daily meals using seasonal local ingredients. She works closely with residents and families to adapt dishes to individual tastes and dietary requirements, always with a light Cantonese touch.
Standards That Shape Everything
Phoenix Rest operates according to a clear set of internal standards — practical, person-centred, and consistently maintained.
Safe Living Environment
All communal and private spaces are arranged with senior mobility in mind — non-slip surfaces, accessible door fittings, and well-lit corridors throughout.
Companion Training Programme
Every staff member completes a structured induction covering elder communication, daily care assistance, and how to notice and respond to shifts in a resident's wellbeing.
Nutritional Meal Standards
Meals follow Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety guidelines, with seasonal adjustments and individual dietary accommodations built into our kitchen planning each week.
Privacy & Data Care
Resident and family information is handled in accordance with Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. Records are kept confidential and shared only when required and permitted.
Social Welfare Department Registration
Phoenix Rest operates under the relevant guidelines for residential care homes for the elderly in Hong Kong, with registration maintained through the Social Welfare Department.
Regular Family Communication
Families receive regular updates about their relative's daily life. Our team is available by phone during office hours and responds to messages promptly and personally.
Residential Care for Elderly in Kowloon – Our Approach
Finding suitable residential care in Hong Kong requires looking beyond basic accommodation. Families seeking a home for an elderly parent or grandparent want to know that daily life will be kind, structured, and respectful. Phoenix Rest was built around that need.
Located in the established neighbourhood of Tai Kok Tsui, our home draws on the area's settled, community-minded character. Residents are close to local markets and parks, and the surrounding streets carry the quieter pace of a residential district rather than a commercial one.
Our work centres on three arrangements — full residential stays, afternoon leisure sessions, and weekend respite care — each designed to offer something different to elderly residents and the families supporting them. The detail that ties these arrangements together is the same: attentive companionship, thoughtful routines, and a home environment that feels genuinely personal.
Come and See Phoenix Rest for Yourself
We welcome visits from families who would like to see the home before making any decisions. There is no obligation — just the chance to walk through the space and ask whatever questions come to mind.
